HM-3 – Voluntary activity tracking of group-housed rats

The HM-3 system tracks the voluntary activity of rats in large group housing environments. It houses up to 48 animals in one cage and gives them the opportunity to jump, go uphill, speed up, climb, hide or segregate from the group. It presents automated individual tracking data and body-weight 24h/7 of the individual rat.

By tracking and measuring the animals’ activity level and speed, we get a movement pattern which might tell us the overall wellbeing of the individual.

By means of electronic identification (RFID) the individual rats are identified in selected spots throughout the cage.

The experiments, studies and sessions are centrally controlled by the HM03Lab application running at the central Lab-PC. Network access might be inaccessible.
